Leggings are a must this season! They are perfect for everything from picnicking on the weekends to lunch with friends at your fav restaurant to the office to dinner or the club! Dress it down with long tees or up with dressier tunics or mini dresses. Dress it up with chunky accessories or pair it down with a simple long pendant necklace. However you decide to dress them, here are a few tips for wearing leggings.
- Try to wear with long tunics or tees that go to mid-thigh. This will help enhance your figure and will keep you from looking like you're on your way to the gym.
- Pair leggings with ballet flats or simple pumps. Stay away from the stilleto heels on this one.
- Stay away from shiny fabrics.
- If you're petite, avoid tunics and dresses that go below mid-thigh. Also, strive for a monochromatic ensemble, which will elongate you!
When wearing a tunic top or tshirt, it's best to balance out the tightness of the leggings with a roomier style on top. However, if you're pairing a mini dress or skirt with the leggings, it's OK for the dress or top to be a more fitted style. For example, pairing our black leggings with our blue jersey knotted strap dress would be totally cute! - Treat your leggings as an accessory, not as pants. They are simply used to enhance a casual outfit, not used to replace slacks. They are also not the main component of the ensemble. Match the color of the leggings to a color that can be found in the rest of the outfit.
Another option to leggings, however, are skinny pants. It fits almost like leggings but have the style and fabric of slacks or jeans.
